Al Horford's toughest NBA big man to defend? Anthony Davis, of course

Did Danny Ainge put Al Horford up to this?

During a relatively benign interview Thursday morning on ESPN's "Get Up!", host Mike Greenberg had this coincidentally humorous exchange with the Boston Celtics forward:

Greenberg: "Who is the toughest big man for you to guard in the NBA?"

Horford: "Probably Anthony Davis. It's just very difficult to defend. He's able to do everything on the floor. So, I'd probably say him."

Out of all the NBA's big men, Horford picked the guy who's been at the center of a tornado of trade rumors involving the Celtics. Go figure.

For those conspiracy theorists wondering if Horford is pumping Davis' tires to help the Celtics' chances of landing the New Orleans Pelicans forward this offseason, we'd offer a counterpoint: Davis arguably is the toughest big man in the NBA to guard.

That's the reason why there's been so much fuss about the 25-year-old: He's one of the top five players in the league when healthy, and even Horford, who plays against him just twice per season, knows Davis can torch any defender thrown his way.

So, will Horford and Davis be battling on the Celtics' practice court at this time next season? That's a discussion for another article.
