Amid Celtics injury struggles, Brad Stevens hoping for some healthy players vs. Cavaliers

The Boston Celtics blew leads of 21 points in the third quarter, 17 in the fourth and six in the final minute of regulation in a stunning 129-120 overtime loss to the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden on Tuesday night.

They also lost some players in the process.

While the C's were already without Jayson Tatum due to illness, they lost Gordon Hayward (right knee contusion) and Jaylen Brown (hamstring) during the game. Couple that with Marcus Smart's altercation with the officials, and Boston could be in some serious manpower trouble Wednesday night versus the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Head coach Brad Stevens was pretty disappointed with his team's performance in the second half, and that frustration boiled over into his injury update.

"I have no idea who is going to Cleveland," Stevens said. "I think most of the coaches are going, a couple of players. I just want eight, nine guys, whoever is going to play hard, let's go. Like, that was ridiculous."

Ridiculous it was: Boston gave up 51 points in the fourth quarter, allowing Caris LeVert to tally 51 points on the night, as well.

Hayward, who didn't play the entire second half, said he probably won't play in Cleveland on Wednesday.

"I think (I'm) out for right now,' Hayward said. "It's definitely sore. Take it day-by-day."

While Hayward did address reporters following the game, Brown did not, and Stevens was unsure of his status for Wednesday.

"He said his hamstring," Stevens said when asked about Brown. "I don't know if he pulled it. I don't know what."

Although Kemba Walker scored 21 points in 23 minutes on a minutes restriction, he also will not be traveling with the team to Cleveland. Walker is slowly coming back from a knee injury that saw him miss five consecutive games following the All-Star break.

"I feel pretty good," Walker said. "Obviously I missed five straight, so I still need to get my rhythm, my timing back, everything like that, so, I felt good today."

Smart, who could receive a fine and possibly a suspension for his postgame incident with the officials, probably won't know his status for the Cleveland game until Wednesday.
