Stop us if you've heard this before: The Boston Celtics are facing a winner-take-all Game 7.
The Celtics' Eastern Conference semifinal series finale Friday night against the Toronto Raptors will be the 33rd Game 7 in franchise history, the most of any NBA team.
It's also the third Game 7 for Brad Stevens' Celtics in the last four years, as Boston will hope for a better result than its loss to LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals.
These stats should give Celtics fans confidence entering Game 7
More often than not, though, Game 7s have been kind to the NBA's most storied franchise: The Celtics are 23-9 all-time in Game 7s.
Those 23 wins were all memorable in their own way, but a few stand out in Celtics lore:
- A double-overtime win in Game 7 of the 1957 NBA Finals to clinch the franchise's first championship.
- John Havlicek's iconic steal to seal Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Philadelphia 76ers.
- Larry's Bird epic duel with Dominique Wilkins in Game 7 of the 1988 East Semifinals.
- Paul Pierce getting the best of LeBron James in Game 7 of the 2008 East Semifinals.
What history will be made in Friday's Game 7 as the Celtics aim for their third East Finals appearance in four years?
