So it should not come as a surprise if he elects to go with Anthony, a highly-regarded prospect with NBA roots (his dad Greg was a longtime NBA guard) whose ability to score, along with his leadership skills, makes him an intriguing target for a Detroit team that’s looking for direction.

Summary: When you’re 6-7 and you do most of your work around the rim, this is where you’re likely to be selected on draft night. While his post-game defensively would benefit from added strength, he does all the right things at that end of the floor in terms of communicating, switching and he does it with a high-level of understanding of where he needs to be and what he needs to do when he gets there. At this point in the draft, he’s worth taking a flier on.

Summary: Strong, physical big who does some of his best work around the rim. At 6-9, he averaged 8.2 post-up points which led the Pac-12 and ranked fifth in the nation. Plays bigger than his 6-9 frame, boasting a 7-4 wingspan. Having played primarily in a zone defense at Washington, there are concerns about how he will adjust to the NBA game defensively.

Summary: The ability to score on all levels is one of McDaniels’ greatest strengths. But the reason he’s near the end of the first round is because of his lithe frame (he’s 6-10 but weighs around 200 pounds). And while he has shown promise as someone who can defend multiple positions, most of his success came in Washington’s zone defense, which raises questions as to whether that same success translates in the NBA where more man-to-man coverage exists.
