Boston Celtics vs. Dallas Mavericks live stream: Watch NBA game online

The Boston Celtics will end their five-day break with a road game Wednesday night against a shorthanded Dallas Mavericks team.

The Mavs are without second-year guard Luka Doncic, who's emerged as a legitimate MVP candidate with averages of 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game. Doncic has an ankle injury that could force him to miss multiple weeks. Dallas lost 116-106 to Boston at TD Garden last month, where Doncic scored a team-high 34 points.

Much of the offensive burden with Doncic out of the lineup will fall to star center Kristaps Porzingis. That's actually good news for the Celtics because Porzingis has struggled against Boston throughout his career.

The Celtics will be shorthanded, too. Veteran guard Marcus Smart is out with a left eye infection. Second-year center Robert Williams is nursing a left hip bone edema, and center Vincent Poirier is recovering from a fractured right pinkie finger.

Oddsmakers are expecting are a close Celtics win Wednesday night with Boston as 2-point betting favorites.
