Celtics improve league-best winning streak with OT win over Wizards

Here are the Stars, Studs and Duds from Boston’s 130-125 overtime win at Washington, a place where the Celtics had lost three of their previous four trips.

Boston (17-10) has now won seven straight, the longest current winning streak in the NBA.

STARS

Kyrie Irving: After a lackluster first half, it was no surprise to see Kyrie Irving become more assertive in the third quarter and help Boston erase a double-digit deficit. For the game, Irving had 38 points on 12-for-28 shooting from the field along with seven assists.

John Wall: The human blur with the ball doesn’t blow by players like he used to. But that didn’t prevent John Wall from making his presence felt as he tallied a double-double of 34 points and 13 assists and seven rebounds.

STUDS

Marcus Morris: The steady production by Marcus Morris was on display once again, scoring 27 points on 11-for-18 shooting from the field along with nine rebounds.

Jayson Tatum: He did a nice job most of the night mixing in his mid-range game, 3-point shot and drives to the rim off the dribble to finish at the rim. Tatum had a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists for the game.

Marcus Smart: This was one of those games when Marcus Smart’s stats were good (18 points) but his impact on the game was so much greater. In addition to drawing multiple charges while doing a good job defending Bradley Beal, Smart made big shots and kept possessions alive with his all-out hustle.

Bradley Beal: Much of what the Wizards were trying to do offensively centered around the play of Bradley Beal. He had 22 points and seven rebounds.

DUDS

Daniel Theis: He scored eight points on 3-for-4 shooting, but Daniel Theis could never get into any kind of rhythm and worst than that, he wound up fouling out with 7:18 to play. With no Al Horford (knee) or Guerschon Yabusele (ankle) and Aron Baynes (ankle) on a minutes restriction, Theis’ foul trouble was a major blow to the Celtics in their quest to extend their winning streak to seven in a row.
