Celtics injury report: Langford won't make season debut vs. Rockets

Boston Celtics fans will have to wait a little longer to see Romeo Langford make his season debut.

The 2018 first-round draft pick missed the start of the season recovering from wrist surgery he underwent last year. Langford's return was pushed back further after he recently tested positive for COVID-19.

He has since cleared the COVID-19 protocols, but he's still rounding into basketball shape after such a long absence.

Forsberg: A reminder of how Romeo Langford can help Celtics

There was hope Langford could make his season debut Friday night when the Celtics host the struggling Houston Rockets at TD Garden. But the team ruled him out Friday afternoon.

Here's the latest Boston injury report:

  • Romeo Langford (post Health & Safety Protocols reconditioning) - OUT
  • Semi Ojeleye (left side strain) - OUT
  • Tristan Thompson (Health & Safety Protocols) - OUT

Thompson has missed the Celtics' last 10 games due to health and safety protocols. Ojeyele has not played since leaving last week's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks early due to injury.

Tip off for Celtics vs. Rockets is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
