WATCH: Bulked-up Jayson Tatum works out with Beal, NBA stars

Jayson Tatum has had a shorter offseason than most after competing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics this summer. But he's not exactly sitting on his couch.

The Boston Celtics star has been putting in work both on the court and in the weight room ahead of his fifth NBA season. Tatum shared a few photos of a recent workout on his Instagram story, and we'll state the obvious: He looks jacked.

For context, here's what Tatum looked like when he entered the league in 2017. You'll notice a slight difference.

Tatum also runs in elite NBA circles these days, as well. Skills coach Drew Hanlen, who has worked with Tatum for several years, shared video Tuesday of the Celtics forward playing a pickup game with a host of NBA players including Bradley Beal, R.J. Barrett, Kelly Oubre Jr., Spencer Dinwiddie, ex-C's teammate Semi Ojeleye and current teammate Enes Kanter.

As Celtics fans are well aware, Tatum and Beal grew up together in St. Louis and are close friends. Beal can opt out of his contract with the Washington Wizards next offseason, and any instance of the two All-Stars spending time together will increase speculation that the Celtics could make a run at Beal in 2022 free agency.

In the nearer term, Tatum's bulked-up frame is a scary sight for NBA opponents this season. The 23-year-old already is an elite scorer who averaged a career-high 26.4 points per game in 2020-21, so if he adds a post presence and increased physicality to his game, he could be a serious handful for defenders.
