Celtics' Kyrie Irving had his best birthday game (by far) vs. Hornets

Kyrie Irving has gotten buckets in pretty much every situation imaginable.

... Except his birthday?

The Boston Celtics guard celebrated his 27th birthday Saturday by taking on the Hornets in Charlotte. Strangely enough, it's just the third time in eight NBA seasons Irving has played on his birthday, and from a statistical standpoint, the other two didn't go so well.

Saturday night was a different story, however.

Irving got to 23 points just two minutes into the second half and finished with a team-high 31 points on 12-of-23 shooting, by far the best birthday game of his career.

It also was Irving's fifth straight game with at least 30 points, something no Celtics player has done since Paul Pierce in 2006.

Irving didn't get to celebrate properly, however, as Kemba Walker and the Hornets went on a massive 30-5 run in the fourth quarter to spoil Kyrie's party and hand the Celtics a deflating 124-117 loss.
