One of the next steps in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic is getting the world vaccinated, and one Boston Celtics legend is helping to do his part in spreading that message.
Bill Russell recently starred in an NBA Cares PSA video, where he is shown receiving the vaccine and explaining how people can find more information about it.
“I just arrived to get my COVID shot, and this is one shot I won’t block,” Russell says. “No Celtics were harmed during my shot. Let’s do this together. To learn more about vaccines, visit CDC.gov.”

The 86-year-old Hall of Famer won 11 championships in 13 seasons with the Celtics from 1956-57 through 1968-69.
Russell joins Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich as notable NBA figures who've filmed videos raising awareness about the vaccine and encouraging people eligible to receive it to do so.
