Celtics' Marcus Smart ejected in third quarter of Hawks game

The Celtics will have to play most of the second half of tonight’s game without Marcus Smart after he was whistled for a second technical foul - an automatic ejection - in the third quarter.

Smart, who was whistled for a technical foul by official Scott Foster earlier in the quarter after a couple of questionable calls that went against Smart and the Celtics, got into a verbal exchange with DeAndre' Bembry jockeying for position on a jump ball.

The two had a brief exchange verbally when official Phenizee Ransom whistled both players for a technical foul.

As both players were separated by players and security officials on hand, Smart made a dash towards Bembry and appeared to have thrown a punch in Bembry’s direction.

The NBA will investigate the incident and decide if any additional punishment will be levied against Smart and Bembry.
