Celtics officially sign two-way guard Max Strus to two-year NBA deal

The Boston Celtics have reportedly added another player to their NBA roster on a partially guaranteed deal.

According to the team's official Twitter account, the Celtics are signing Max Strus to a two-year NBA deal.

Strus, an undrafted free agent out of DePaul, originally signed with the Celtics on a two-way deal before the Las Vegas Summer League. Strus averaged 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in four summer league games. So far during the preseason, he has been quieter, averaging 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists without scoring in 7.5 minutes per game.

The signing of Strus cleared the way for the Celtics to sign 7-foot-6 big-man Tacko Fall to a two-way contract, and that was one of the biggest reasons that the signing was made. The other, per Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, was that Strus was willing to add a second non-guaranteed year to his contract.

Strus will now compete with Javonte Green for the 15th and final spot on the Celtics roster. Green, 26, has looked good in training camp and made some monster dunks in his preseason debut.

Bryce Brown hits franchise 3's record in Red Claws loss

The Maine Red Claws were in action at home at the Portland Expo Center on Saturday night hosting the Delaware Blue Coats, taking a 128-123 loss to fall to 7-4 and fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

Tacko Fall wasn’t in action, but Bryce Brown was simply furious, leading all scorers with 43 points 15 of 17 from the floor overall and a franchise single-game record 11 of 11 three-pointers. Tremont Waters was terrific, too, with 18 points and 11 assists.

Brown, an undrafted free agent who helped lead Auburn to its first Final Four appearance last spring, was simply unconscious for the Claws. He shot a perfect 11 of 11 from three-point range to give him an absurd effective field goal percentage of 1.2 for the game.

Waters, the Connecticut native, was crafty in his distribution, with just four turnovers to go with his 11 assists.

Yante Maten (18 points), Vincent Poirier (18) and Justin Bibbs (10) also scored in double-figures for the Red Claws.

The Red Claws return to action Friday in Des Moines, Iowa to face the Iowa Wolves, with tipoff at 8 p.m. ET.
