Celtics trade Abdel Nader to Thunder

The Celtics are finalizing a trade that would send Abdel Nader to the Thunder for shooting guard Rodney Purvis, per Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.

Boston waived Nader on Saturday, opening up a roster spot for Jabari Bird or another player who impressed in Summer League.

Nader, 24, averaged 3.0 points and 1.5 rebounds and in 48 games last season, which was his first in the NBA.

As for Purvis, who also is 24, he played in 16 games with the Magic during the 2017-18 season averaging 6.0 points and 1.7 rebounds.

Thursday was a special day for 91-year-old Boston Celtics legend Bob Cousy.

The Boston Celtics legend visited the White House on Thursday afternoon to accept his Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civilian honor. The medal recognizes those who make “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”

Presidential Medal of Freedom: Bob Cousy joins these sports legends

When Celtics legend Bob Cousy receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Trump Thursday afternoon, he'll join a very exclusive club of athletes and sports greats who have received the nation's highest civilian honor.

Cousy will become only the fourth NBA player to be recognized, joining his teammate Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
