The Boston Celtics are a solid Eastern Conference contender through 40 games of the 2019-20 season.

But can this current roster compete with the East's elites?

That's up for Danny Ainge to decide, as the Celtics' president of basketball operations and his staff have until Feb. 6 to make a move or stand pat ahead of the 2020 NBA trade deadline.

This year could be a quieter year than most, but there still are some talented players being floated as potential trade targets. Here are seven players discussed in various trade rumors who could be of interest to the Celtics.

Latest buzz: Pistons have 'no traction' on Drummond trade

Analysis: The NBA's leading rebounder would give the Celtics much-needed muscle for potential heavyweight bouts with the Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid and the Milwaukee Bucks' Brook Lopez. He's also one of the most expensive players on the market and would require Boston to part with core assets like Gordon Hayward, Marcus Smart and/or a first-round draft pick.

Latest buzz: Wizards "almost have to" shop Bertans, who could net first-round pick

Analysis: The 6-foot-10 Latvian is shooting 43.4 percent from 3-point range amid a career season (15.3 points per game) and would give the Celtics the frontcourt spacing they lost with Al Horford's departure. He's also on a terrific deal, which means Washington likely will command a first-round pick in return.

Latest buzz: Celtics have "monitored" Gallinari as a trade target

Analysis: A more polished scorer than Bertans, Gallinari is averaging 18.8 points per game this season while shooting 40.1 percent from three. He'd also give the Celtics a frontcourt boost but like Drummond would force Boston to give up either Hayward or Smart to match salaries.

Latest buzz: Hawks among potential suitors for Adams

Analysis: Adams is averaging a double-double for OKC and is a rock-solid rim protector. A trade to Boston also could reunite him with former Thunder teammate Enes Kanter. He's under contract through the 2020-21 season, though, which may scare the Celtics away if they're just looking for a rental.

Latest buzz: NBA teams monitoring Favors as potential trade target

Analysis: Favors' scoring output has dipped on the lowly Pelicans (9.3 points per game), but he was a productive sidekick to Rudy Gobert in Utah and is an effective low-post defender who would cost less than Drummond, Adams or Gallinari.

Latest buzz: Redick wants to "see this thing through" with Pelicans

Analysis: The Celtics have plenty of guard depth but could benefit from a knock-down shooter coming off the bench. The 35-year-old Redick is still that guy, as he's shooting 46.4 percent from 3-point range. If New Orleans decides to move him, he may be worth considering to boost Boston's bench scoring.

Latest buzz: Market for Covington has been "heating up"

Analysis: "RoCo" isn't an elite shooter and Boston is loaded at the wing position. But he's a double-digit scorer and gritty defender who likely would be a Brad Stevens favorite and could play the four in the Celtics' smaller lineups.
