The Boston Celtics will aim to extend their win streak to six games when they play the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Thursday night.
It's going to be an emotional night for Celtics point guard Kemba Walker, who is returning to Charlotte for the first time since he left the Hornets to sign with Boston in July as a free agent. Walker spent eight seasons with the Hornets and is one of the best players in franchise history.
He won't be the only player facing his former team in Charlotte. Hornets point guard Terry Rozier will play against his former Celtics teammates for the first time since he left Boston in free agency over the summer. Rozier signed a three-year, $54 million contract to replace Walker as Charlotte's starting point guard, and he's averaging 16.9 points per game.
The Celtics entered Thursday at 5-1 atop the Eastern Conference standings, and they could be getting some reinforcements for Thursday's matchup. C's guard Jaylen Brown is listed as probable to play after missing the last three games with an illness/infection. Veteran center Enes Kanter is questionable to play with a knee injury. Kanter hasn't played since the season opener.
