Celtics vs. Wizards odds: Best NBA picks for potential trap game in Washington

Share

The Boston Celtics haven't been big on style points lately.

The Celtics enter Monday's road matchup with the Washington Wizards on a three-game winning streak and have won nine of their last 10 games.

They've played some pretty poor competition, though, and only defeated the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls by a combined 10 points in their last two contests.

Boston may be in for another harder-than-expected game Monday at Capital One Arena: Kemba Walker is out with the flu for a second consecutive game, and the Wizards are coming off an upset win over the Denver Nuggets.

Can the Celtics finally find their groove in our nation's capital? Below are our moneyline, point spread and point total picks for Celtics-Wizards, as well as two NBA locks against the spread.

Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards, 7 p.m. ET

Moneyline: As much as I'd like to take the Wizards, they have four big men sidelined and may be without Bradley Beal (questionable with a leg injury). Even if Washington keeps it interesting, the Celtics (-425) are winning this one.

Point Spread: Washington always seems to hang around with Boston: Three of their last four meetings have been decided by seven points or fewer. A Jayson Tatum off night helps the Wizards (+8.5) cover the spread in a losing effort.

Point Total: The Wizards continue to play atrocious defense, allowing an NBA-high 120.9 points per game. The OVER has hit in five of the Celtics' last six games in Washington, and I like that trend continuing with a 226.5 point total.

Darren's record picking the Celtics' moneyline, point spread and point total: 47-24-1

NBA Locks of the Night

Utah Jazz (-3) at New Orleans Pelicans: The Jazz are riding a five-game winning streak and have covered the spread in six consecutive games played in New Orleans. The Pelicans' success can't be sustained, and I like Utah knocking them down a peg here.

Golden State Warriors (+10.5) at Sacramento Kings: The Warriors will be without Draymond Green and DeAngelo Russell, but the Kings shouldn't be double-digit favorites over anyone. Golden State will keep this one in single digits.

Darren's record picking NBA locks against the spread: 26-21-1
