Charles Barkley hilariously forgets Tatum's name while praising him

Jayson Tatum already has three All-Star nods on his résumé at the age of 24. The Boston Celtics star finds himself leading the NBA MVP conversation early in the 2022-23 campaign.

It's safe to say Tatum has made himself a household name. But that didn't stop NBA great Charles Barkley from forgetting it.

Forsberg: Celtics showcasing newfound depth as part of hot start

During TNT's Inside the NBA on Tuesday, Barkley hilariously butchered Tatum's name while heaping praise on him.

"The MVP of the league right now -- no disrespect to Luka (Doncic), no disrespect to AD (Anthony Davis). That boy in Boston right now, he's kicking ass and taking names. His name is Jayson Taylor," Barkley incorrectly said.

No, Chuck. He is not the former Miami Dolphins pass rusher.

Barkley's error overshadowed his praise, but his point still stands. Tatum is the current NBA MVP favorite with 30.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor. He has led the Celtics to a league-best 20-5 record.

If he keeps up anything close to this pace, Tatum will add a fourth All-Star selection and possibly much more to his mantle. At that point, you can bet Barkley won't forget his name again.
