Classic Celtics: Celebrate legendary C's squad in ‘Best of 1986 Week'

Share

The Celtics have fielded some great teams over their history that have brought 17 NBA championships to Boston.

But perhaps none of those teams was greater than the 1985-86 Celtics.

That C's squad had an incredibly talented roster that featured five eventual Basketball Hall of Famers in Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Bill Walton and Dennis Johnson -- and the results showed.

They went 40-1 at home -- an NBA record until the San Antonio Spurs tied it in 2015-16 -- and finished with 67 regular-season wins en route to winning the 1986 NBA title.

The 1986 Celtics played a beautiful brand of basketball, and you can watch that brand all week on NBC Sports Boston, which continues its "Classic Celtics" series on Monday, June 8, with "Best of 1986 Week."

Our network will re-broadcast five games in five nights from that historic 1985-86 season, concluding with two of the Celtics' NBA Finals games against the Houston Rockets.

Here's the full lineup for "Best of 1986 Week," with each re-broadcast starting at 8 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston:
