Congressman Joe Kennedy III trolls Kyrie Irving in photo with Celtics' Enes Kanter

Enes Kanter has been busy making new fans since joining the Boston Celtics in NBA free agency earlier this month, and you can include United States congressman Joe Kennedy III (D-MA) in that group.

Kennedy posed for a photo with the Celtics center in a tweet posted Friday morning, and the 38-year-old politician even took an opportunity to troll former Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving.

Kanter said at his introductory press conference on July 17 that he wanted to be the reason no one else wears No. 11 again. The comment was an obvious troll of Irving, who infamously stated in a Nike commercial last fall that he wanted to be the reason why no one would wear No. 11 for the Celtics again. Irving, who told season ticket holders at an event in October that he planned on re-signing with the Celtics, ultimately left the team to join the Brooklyn Nets in free agency after a tumultuous 2018-19 season for Boston.

Kanter has met with several different lawmakers this month, including Massachusetts senator Edward Markey, who is trying to help the 27-year-old Celtic be able to travel to Canada when Boston plays the Toronto Raptors.

Kanter has long been an outspoken critic of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Turkey revoked Kanter's passport in 2017, making it difficult for him to travel outside the United States for NBA games or anything else.
