Danny Ainge opened up about the heart attack he suffered back on April 30.
The Celtics general manager described the health scare to Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald and admitted suffering his second heart attack in 10 years was a reality check.
“I just had some chest pains and went to the hospital and, you know, had a heart attack and had a stent put in,” Ainge told Bulpett. “It’s just… it’s just a wake-up call.”
The 60-year-old says while he wasn't "scared," by the incident, it helped him realized it was time to focus on maintaining a better diet.
“I ate better after the first [heart attack] but, again, you can always do better," Ainge said. "Even before my first, I wouldn’t say that I was a really unhealthy eater, it just wasn’t a focus of my health and my attention. So now there’s just more of a focus.”
Staying healthy and sticking to a diet that will keep him from suffering a third heart attack undoubtedly is the priority for Ainge at this point, but that certainly won't be his only focus this summer.

NBA free agency is mere days away, and Ainge is sure to be one of the busier GMs in the league. It's clear he wouldn't want it any other way.
"I’m just happy to be here and excited for our upcoming season," Ainge told Bulpett. "I love my job. I love the people I work with. I love the players. They keep me young. They’re a lot of fun to be around, as you can see by the four guys we just drafted.”
All in all, the optimistic Ainge seems like he'll be just fine.
