Who would have thought Jaylen Brown would be getting the best of LeBron James at age 21?

The 2018 NBA playoffs were a monumental stretch for Brown and Jayson Tatum, two promising Boston Celtics players thrust into the spotlight with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward lost to season-ending injuries.

Time and again, the young duo delivered, especially on May 13, 2018 -- two years ago Wednesday -- in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers at TD Garden.

Brown came up clutch in the series opener with 23 points, eight rebounds and one block to power Boston to a 108-83 win.

Brown went on to score 23-plus points in seven games that postseason, edging Tatum for the most such games by a player 21 years old or younger in C's history, per Boston Sports Info.

Tatum added 16 points for good measure while James finished with just 15 as the Celtics set the tone out of the gate at the Garden.

Here are two other notable May 13 performances from the C's, who are 5-3 all-time in games played on this date:

May 13, 2010: Rajon Rondo (21 points, 12 assists) and Kevin Garnett (22 points, 12 rebounds) help the Celtics dispatch the Cavs in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals and advance to play the Orlando Magic.

May 13, 1984: Larry Bird (39 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists) records what at the time is just the second triple-double in a Game 7 in NBA history, as the Celtics dispatch the New York Knicks in the East Semifinals.
