Before Reggie Lewis' life was cut tragically short, the Celtics forward was a dominant force for Boston in the playoffs.

Lewis' star shined especially bright during the 1992 NBA playoffs, when he eclipsed 30 points in four of the Celtics' 10 games.

One of Lewis' best playoff efforts came exactly 28 years ago Friday -- May 8, 1992 -- in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The All-Star forward exploded for 36 points and seven assists in the C's 110-107 win at the Boston Garden, becoming just the sixth Celtic in franchise history to tally at least 36 points and seven assists in a playoff game, according to Boston Sports Info (@BostonSportsInf).

The Celtics went on to lose the series in seven games, but Lewis averaged an impressive 28.1 points per game over that span.

Here are two other notable May 8 performances from the C's, who are 4-3 all-time in games played on this date:

May 8, 2008: The Celtics stifle LeBron James (6-for-24, 21 points) and the Cavs for the second straight game, grinding out an 89-73 win in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals to take a 2-0 series lead.

May 8, 1985: Larry Bird shows the "Bad Boy" Pistons what he's all about, setting a career playoff high with 43 points in Boston's 130-123 win over Detroit in Game 5 of the East Semifinals.
