It appears tragedy has struck Tremont Waters' family as he thrives for the Boston Celtics at the NBA Summer League.

Waters' father, Ed Waters, was found dead Thursday night at a hotel in West Haven, Conn., police confirmed to the Stamford Advocate on Friday morning. According to WTNH.com, he was 49.

Police are investigating the cause of Ed Waters' death, which currently is unclear after authorities found him just after noon at a Super 8 Hotel in West Haven.

The Celtics took Tremont Waters at No. 51 overall with their last pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The Connecticut native and LSU product had played well through four games in Las Vegas, averaging 10.0 points and 5.3 assists for the undefeated C's, but basketball will be the last thing on his mind after Thursday's awful news.
