Here's where ESPN ranked Jayson Tatum on top 100 NBA players list

We've hit the stage of the offseason where several different media outlets are unveiling their top NBA player rankings with the 2021-22 campaign less than a month away.

Sports Illustrated unveiled its top 100 ranking earlier this week. ESPN's "NBArank" finished up Friday. Both lists had Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant as the No. 1 player in pro basketball.

The Boston Celtics were well-represented, too.

Forsberg: Who should round out the starting five for the Celtics?

The Celtics' two young stars both ranked in the top 30 of ESPN's NBArank. Jaylen Brown came in at No. 27, which was the same spot Sports Illustrated put him.

ESPN ranked Tatum at No. 14, three spots behind his place on SI's list.

The consensus on Tatum seems to be he's really close to top 10 status but isn't there just yet. That's a fair assessment.

Tatum took his game to a higher level last season, posting career highs by averaging 26.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 5.7 free throw attempts per game. He was selected to the All-Star Game for the second consecutive season.

Tatum has the potential to be a top 10 player, and if he's able to reach that level next season, the Celtics will be a legit contender for the Eastern Conference title.
