FINAL SCORE: Celtics 105, 76ers 87

IN BRIEF: Jayson Tatum had 23 points and nine rebounds, and the Boston Celtics outlasted the Philadelphia 76ers 105-87 on Tuesday night in the season opener for both teams. Boston won despite shooting just 43 percent from the field and 30 percent from the 3-point line. But the Celtics' struggles didn't dampen the mood inside TD Garden for the return to regular-season action for Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving. BOX SCORE

WHAT IT MEANS: In coming out on top in this highly-anticipated rematch of last spring's Eastern Conference Semfinal, the Celtics have now won an NBA record 45 home openers. They're now 3-2 all-time against Philly on opening night.
