Caris LeVert exploded for a career-high 51 points as the Brooklyn Nets rallied from a 21-point deficit to hand the Celtics a stunning 129-120 loss in overtime.

The Celtics were without Jayson Tatum, had Kemba Walker on a minutes restriction and lost Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown during the game due to injuries. But make no mistake about it: This was their worst loss of the season.

Furthermore, LeVert became just the fifth player in NBA history to score 51-plus points in 36 minutes or fewer, joining Stephen Curry (who did it three times), James Harden, Klay Thompson and Kobe Bryant.
This is Caris LeVert we're talking about: The same guy who's averaging 12.2 points in his career and has started fewer than half of the games he's played in.
Here's one more stat Celtics fans may not enjoy: LeVert tallied 37 of his 51 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, outscoring the entire Celtics roster by himself.
LeVert accounted for 60 percent of Brooklyn's points in that span, helping the Nets rally from a 17-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter.
Blowing a 17-point fourth quarter lead isn't ideal; it's also one of the worst late collapses in Celtics history, according to team stat man Dick Lipe (via NBC Sports Boston's Abby Chin).
Oh, and in case you're wondering: Brooklyn's 51 points in the fourth quarter was a franchise record.
All of these numbers may explain why Celtics head coach Brad Stevens was so exasperated with his team Tuesday night -- and why Boston will try to prevent the Cavaliers from looking like the Jordan-era Bulls when they visit Cleveland on Wednesday night.
