Irving focused on winning NBA title, ‘to be one of the greatest ever'

While there’s a constant speculation and uncertainty as to what Kyrie Irving will do this summer when he becomes a free agent, the six time All-Star set the record straight following Boston’s 113-99 win over New York as to what he’s locked on to this season.

“I have a focus on winning a championship this year,” said Irving who led all scorers on Friday with 23 points and 10 rebounds for his 13th double-double this season, along with six assists. “That’s where my focus is going to stay.”

But Irving is wise enough to know that even with that declaration, speculation about his future will continue.

“Even me saying something like that is not concrete enough for anybody,” Irving said. “So, it is what it is. I have to go home and take care of my family and friends. That’s the stuff that really matters to me. Loving the game of basketball, that’s where it’s always going to be.

Irving added, “I didn’t do this for the media; I didn’t do this for the money; I didn’t do this for the fans. I did it because I love the game and I work extremely hard at my craft to be one of the greatest ever. So, that’s where my focus is.”
