Suffice it to say Kyrie Irving did little to silence the doubters Monday night.
After vowing to be better in the wake of a Game 3 clunker, the Celtics star was even worse in Game 4, going 7 for 22 from the floor in a 113-101 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks that moved Boston within one game of playoff elimination.
Irving didn't do himself any favors after the game, either, responding, "Who cares?" when asked about his current shooting slump (19 for 62 over the last three games) and insisting he "should have shot 30" attempts Monday instead of 22.
The optics were enough for many to wonder if Irving, who will hit free agency this offseason, just played his last game in Boston as a member of the Celtics.
ESPN's Jalen Rose had no problem expressing that opinion Tuesday on "Get Up!"
Rose added Irving has "shown that he can't be the best player on a contending team," while pointing out the ball-dominant guard simply isn't a good fit for Brad Stevens' team-oriented offense.
Rose wasn't alone in his criticism, either. Jay Williams -- a former Duke player who has lauded Irving in the past -- agreed with Rose, insisting role players like Terry Rozier "can't wait" for Irving to leave town after an "atrocity" of a season for the All-Star point guard.
There's been an undercurrent of worry that Irving would skip town this summer (possibly to join the New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets) if the Celtics didn't make a deep playoff run. Unless the C's can win three straight playoff games against the Eastern Conference's No. 1 seed, that nightmare scenario will come more into focus.
