Jayson Tatum's scoring surge has placed him in a select group of Boston Celtics legends.

The 21-year-old forward scored a game-high 36 points in Tuesday night's win over the Portland Trail Blazers, giving him 250 points in the last eight games. He's only the sixth player in Celtics history to accomplish that feat. Check out the full list in the tweet below:

Sam Jones, John Havlicek and Larry Bird are three of the 50 greatest players in NBA history and Hall of Famers. Paul Pierce will soon join them in the Hall of Fame, and while Isaiah Thomas isn't headed to Springfield, he still had a pretty memorable two-and-a-half years in Boston.

Tatum certainly is headed in the right direction in his quest to be a Celtics legend. He's averaging 30.3 points and 7.2 rebounds, while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 49.5 percent from 3-point range in 10 February games.

His two best performances over that stretch came against two of the top teams in the league -- the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers. Tatum outdueled Kawhi Leonard and Paul George by scoring 39 points in an overtime victory against the Clippers before the All-Star break. He dropped 41 points on LeBron James and the Lakers in a loss at Staples Center this past weekend. James was so impressed by the performance that he gave Tatum a shoutout on Instagram.

The Celtics are quickly becoming Tatum's team. He's emerged as the No. 1 scoring option with his ability to create offense in a variety of ways. The Celtics are among the top contenders in the Eastern Conference title race, and they will go as far as Tatum takes them.
