CHICAGO -- The Jayson Tatum reign as the Taco Bell Skills Challenge champion is over after he was knocked out in the first round by Indiana’s Domantas Sabonis.

Tatum seemingly had control of the event before missing his first pass into the netting. But he caught up to Sabonis after hustling to make a go-ahead lay-up.

However, Sabonis made up ground and had the first shot at winning it but missed a 3-pointer. Tatum launched his seconds later, and his was also off the mark.

With a second shot at the victory, Sabonis made the most of it and nailed the winning shot to advance to the next round.

Sabonis would go onto the finals where he would lose to the 2020 Skills Challenge Champion, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat.
