The Boston Celtics own the Philadelphia 76ers.
Boston has won nine of the 11 meetings between these teams since the beginning of the 2017-18 campaign, including a 4-1 playoff series win over Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference semifinals last season.
The Celtics' latest win came on Christmas Day as Kyrie Irving's 40 points powered Boston to a thrilling 121-114 victory at TD Garden.
76ers center Joel Embiid did all he could in the loss, pouring in a team-high 34 points and 16 rebounds. After the 76ers lost to the Celtics in the season opener in October, Embiid admitted Boston's dominance over Philly meant there wasn't a rivalry between the two clubs. He didn't back off those comments following Tuesday's defeat.
The next Celtics-76ers matchup is Feb. 12 in Philadelphia. It's one of two remaining meetings in Philly to close the regular-season series. The 76ers need to win at least one of those games to gain some confidence entering the playoffs, because it's likely they'll need to go through the Celtics on the road to the NBA Finals.
