Kyrie Irving on ‘mood swings' report: ‘I don't have to be perfect for anyone'

Kyrie Irving's tenure in Brooklyn is already off to a rocky start.

On Tuesday, only three games into Irving's Nets career, ESPN's Jackie MacMullan noted in a column that the star point guard's mood swings have become an "unspoken concern" within the organization.

Irving responded to the report following the Nets' loss to the Pacers on Wednesday night.

“That’s the world we live in... people only know a certain percentage of me.” he said according to Anthony Puccio of Nets Daily. “Human beings have mood swings... I don’t have to be perfect for anybody here or for the public.”

Celtics fans are all too familiar with those kinds of comments. Back in February, Irving told reporters he "didn't owe anybody [expletive]" when he was asked about his future in Boston. It's clear he hasn't changed his tune.

Through all the drama, Irving has gotten the support of his head coach Kenny Atkinson, who called the "mood swings" report "completely false."

Irving has put up at least 26 points in each of his first four games with his new team, though the Nets are off to a 1-3 start to the season. They'll visit the Celtics for a much-anticipated matchup on Nov. 27.
