The NBA handed down discipline to Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

Irving and the organization were fined $35,000 each for "violating league rules governing media interview access," per the league's press release. Irving's repeated refusal to participate in postgame media availability led to the fines.

This is nothing new for Irving. The former Boston Celtics guard also was fined $25,000 after skipping NBA Media Week in December. Rather than speak to reporters, Irving issued his own statement and followed by referring to the media as "pawns."

Although Irving's antics continue to be a distraction, the seven-time All-Star is enjoying a stellar season on the court for Brooklyn. Through 49 games, he's averaging 27.0 points and 6.3 assists while shooting 50 percent from the field.
