Lou Williams set impressive NBA record in Clippers' huge win vs. Celtics

The Los Angeles Clippers had an offensive explosion Monday night with a 140-115 win over the Boston Celtics at Staples Center, and reserve guard Lou Williams set an NBA record in the process.

Williams passed Dell Curry, father of current NBA players Stephen and Seth Curry, for the most career points off the bench in league history. The Clippers guard passed Curry's mark of 11,147 points in the fourth quarter.

Williams finished with 34 points on 14-for-20 shooting in just 23 minutes as the Clippers swept their season series with the Celtics.

The 32-year-old veteran won the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award last season, and he's the favorite to win it again this year. In fact, Clippers players have won three of the last five Sixth Man of the Year Awards. Jamal Crawford won it during the 2013-14 and 2015-16 campaigns.

The Clippers currently are the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference playoff race, and Williams' scoring off the bench and ability to create his own shot anywhere on the court are two reasons why L.A. will be a tough out in the postseason.
