Respect among Defensive Player of the Year winners may not run as deep as you'd think.

Marcus Smart and Giannis Antetokounmpo, who've won the award in two of the last three seasons, became entangled during a frantic sequence in the second half of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks, but only one of them seemed willing to help the other one up.

As Smart explained, he was boxing Antetokounmpo out, when the Greek Freak jumped on his back and the pair hit the floor at Fiserv Forum.

Celtics-Bucks takeaways: 'Playoff Al' takes over in Game 4

Smart reached out his hand in an attempt to help Antetokounmpo to his feet, but Giannis would have none of it, even pulling his hand away from Smart as he fell back to the floor.

"We tangled up, I'm trying to help him up, he's doing a good job of making sure I don't get back into the play by holding me down," Smart said after the game. "I tried, I'm not going to keep playing this game."

Antetokounmpo drew the ire of Al Horford in the game as well, seemingly motivating the 35-year-old veteran as Horford dropped a playoff career-high 30 points.

Giannis was brilliant again for the Bucks in Game 4, scoring 34 points on 14 of 32 shooting with 18 rebounds and five assists. But Smart was efficient in his own right for the C's, scoring 18 points on 8 of 13 shooting with eight assists in the win.

Eddie House, for his part, was fired up about the interaction between the stars on Postgame Live on NBC Sports Boston.

"That's the attitude we need to have: We are enemies, we are not friends," House said.
