Smart pays tribute to Tommy Heinsohn: 'He lived the Celtics'

Tommy Heinsohn's impact on the Boston Celtics was enormous.

He was a part of the Celtics family -- as a player, a head coach and a broadcaster -- for more than 60 years. Heinsohn won 10 championships (eight as a player, two as a coach) with the Celtics and is one of only four people to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach.

Celtics guard Marcus Smart was one of many current and former players to pay tribute to Heinsohn after news broke Tuesday that the C's legend had died Monday at the age of 86

His words about Heinsohn were spot on.

Smart's stellar defense, hustle, tenacity and leadership are among the traits Heinsohn also brought to the Celtics for nine seasons from 1957 through 1965. It's not a surprise that Smart is fourth all time in "Tommy Awards" with 54.
