If all goes smoothly, we could have NBA basketball back in our lives two months from now.

While it's clear the NBA still is in the early stages of figuring out how to properly restart the season, the fact a plan is being discussed definitely is encouraging. Basketball fans will take all the optimism they can get at this point.

In addition to the NBA's statement, Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports reported that a Disney source said while "it's a complicated venture," they "believe it will get done."

The question still remains of whether the NBA season would resume the regular season, or skip straight to the playoffs.

The NBA season has been suspended since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
