The NBA calendar is coming into focus with the 2020-21 season right around the corner.

The league announced late Monday night that free agency will begin on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. ET. Players can officially sign new contracts at 12:01 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 22.

The announcement also noted the league and the players have agreed to a Dec. 22 start date for the 2020-21 regular season. Each team will play a 72-game schedule, which will be revealed at a later date. The salary cap for the upcoming season will be set at $109.14 million.

The next five weeks are going to be very busy for teams and players.

Forsberg: Why would Hayward consider opting out?

The 2021 NBA Draft is scheduled for Nov. 18, just two days before free agency begins. Teams will also need to fit in training camps and make other roster moves, such as trades, in the little more than a month remaining before real games start up again.

The Boston Celtics could be one of the busiest teams over the next four or five weeks. They are the only franchise with three first-round picks in the 2021 draft and have several players with uncertain futures, including Gordon Hayward.
