Maten was a Heat two-way player last season and averaged 23.5 points and 9.6 rebounds for the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Maten, who's listed at 6-foot-8 and 240 pounds, played two games as a rookie for the Miami Heat last season. Most of his 2018-19 action came in the NBA G-League, where his impressive play for the Sioux Falls Skyforce earned him a spot on the All-Rookie first team.
The 23-year-old power forward played four seasons at the University of Georgia and won the SEC Player of the Year award as a senior during the 2017-18 campaign. He averaged 19.3 points per game for the Bulldogs during his senior season, but went undrafted in 2018.
Maten likely will compete with several players, including 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall, for the last roster spot in training camp and the preseason.
