NBA Rumors: Celtics not on Anthony Davis' list of long-term destinations

We hate to interrupt your Super Bowl reverie, but we have an update on the Anthony Davis front.

The Celtics, expected to be one of Davis' top suitors this summer if the New Orleans Pelicans don't move him before the NBA's Feb. 7 trade deadline, aren't among the "handful" of teams that Davis would be a willing to sign a long-term contract with after a trade, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Monday.

The Athletic's Shams Charania then reported the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers are on Davis' short list.

Davis would be willing to sign a long-term contract if traded to the Los Angeles Lakers or New York Knicks, per Wojnarowski. But the 25-year-old reportedly has no plans to sign an extension with any club he joins this summer entering the final season of his contract.

That would mean the C's couldn't pull of the maneuver they used with Kevin Garnett, who came to Boston via trade in 2007 despite initially ruling the team out and signed a long-term extension days later.

The latest rumors don't bode well for Davis coming to Boston: The superstar forward reportedly is concerned about Kyrie Irving's long-term commitment to Boston, and his father apparently isn't a fan of the franchise, either.

However, the Celtics reportedly remain undeterred and are convinced they can not only acquire the superstar forward but convince him to sign a long-term deal, especially if Irving sticks around.

Wojnarowski also notes Monday's report appears to be an effort by Davis' agent, Rich Paul, to drum up interest in a deal for the big man before Thursday's deadline.
