Evan Fournier will not be returning to the Boston Celtics.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the veteran wing is set to sign a four-year contract worth up to $78 million with the New York Knicks.
The writing was on the wall for Fournier to sign elsewhere following reports that the 28-year-old and the Celtics were far apart in contract talks. Boston also recently traded for Dallas Mavericks wing Josh Richardson, which seemed to indicate Fournier would not be returning.
Fournier was acquired by the Celtics prior to the 2021 NBA trade deadline. In 16 games with Boston, he averaged 13.0 points and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 44.8 percent from the floor.
