NBA Rumors: Greg Monroe to sign with Sixers after leaving Celtics

Greg Monroe's tour of Eastern Conference playoff contenders will continue, it appears.

The veteran center is signing a rest-of-season contract with the Philadelphia 76ers after his 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics expired Tuesday, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Wednesday.

ESPN's Jordan Schultz was the first to report Monroe's pending signing.

Monroe has had two stints with the Celtics and one with the Toronto Raptors since last February, his latest a brief stop in Boston that didn't pan out after Aron Baynes and Robert Williams returned from injury.

Monroe is averaging just 4.7 points and 4.0 rebounds over 40 games this season, so he's more of a depth add for Philly than anything.

Perhaps the 28-year-old big man can give his new team some pointers on how to beat the Celtics, though; Monroe was on the Boston team that dispatched the Sixers in five games during the second round of the 2018 NBA playoffs.
