NBA Rumors: Isaiah Thomas, Wizards talking possible free-agent signing

Just over two years after dispatching the Washington Wizards from the NBA playoffs in a historic series, Isaiah Thomas reportedly is considering joining them.

After the Wizards reportedly sent guard Tomas Satoransky to the Chicago Bulls in a sign-and-trade Monday morning, Washington has spoken with Thomas about a potential signing in free agency, The Athletic's David Aldridge reports.

The Wizards reportedly picked up point guard Ish Smith in Monday's deal, but the 30-year-old Thomas still could provide backcourt depth as John Wall continues to recover from an Achilles injury.

Thomas has appeared in just 42 games for three teams since his All-Star campaign with the Boston Celtics in 2016-17, as a hip injury has prevented him from returning to form.

But Washington is well aware of that elite form, as Thomas averaged 27.4 points over seven games against the Wizards in the second round of the 2017 NBA playoffs (including a 53-point outburst in Game 2) to send them packing.

If Thomas-to-the-Wiz falls through, don't expect a Boston reunion, as the 5-foot-9 guard reportedly isn't on the Celtics' radar this summer.
