Only Kyrie Irving knows where Kyrie Irving will play basketball next season.
But that won't stop everyone else from offering their two cents to the Boston Celtics guard.
ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, who reported last weekend he believes there's a "95% chance" Irving teams up with Kevin Durant on the New York Knicks this summer, suggested on his podcast this week the Brooklyn Nets could lower that percentage.
The New York Times' Marc Stein first broached the subject during their conversation on "The Stephen A. Smith Show."
"Right before the playoffs started, someone I trust very much told me (Irving and Durant) might be a package deal, but they’re going to look at the Nets just as hard as the Knicks."
Smith then interrupted with this:

"I heard that about Kyrie, not about KD. That Kyrie and his folks -- his folks are trying to convince him to look heavily at the Nets."
The upstart Nets have been viewed as a dark horse for Irving, who grew up in nearby West Orange, N.J. Brooklyn has an All-Star point guard in D'Angelo Russell, but the 23-year-old is set to hit restricted free agency, and the Nets have the cap space to create room for two maximum-salary free agents (i.e. Irving and Durant) if they part ways with Russell.
So, where does that leave the Celtics in convincing Irving to stick around? Prospects look bleak at the moment: Team co-owner Wyc Grousbeck was noncommittal about Irving's future in a recent interview, while oddsmakers already are putting the Knicks ahead of Boston in 2020 NBA title odds.
But Irving has made clear he doesn't like others trying to shape his own narrative, so in all likelihood, we'll just have to wait until July 1 for an answer about his fate.
