Report: Nuggets beat out C's for Aaron Gordon with this trade

The Boston Celtics reportedly are acquiring an Orlando Magic player, but it's not Aaron Gordon.

The Denver Nuggets have completed a trade with the Magic for Gordon, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Thursday. Here are the terms of the deal, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski:

Nuggets receive: Aaron Gordon

Magic receive: Gary Harris, RJ Hampton and a first-round draft pick

The Celtics were believed to be "frontrunners" for Gordon as of this week, and The Athletic's Jared Weiss reported the 25-year-old forward was "eager" to be traded to Boston.

But Denver reportedly was on Gordon's trade list as well, and it sounds like the Nuggets offered Orlando a superior trade package.

According to multiple reports, the Celtics were offering the Magic a first-round pick and a "young player" for Gordon but were hesitant to include Marcus Smart or an additional draft pick in the deal. Weiss reported the C's preferred to offer Orlando rookie Aaron Nesmith.

Boston misses out on a talented young player in Gordon, but the Celtics reportedly acquired Gordon's teammate, Evan Fournier, on Thursday. Fournier is averaging 19.7 points per game this season and should give the C's a scoring boost.

Fournier is enjoying a career season in Orlando.
