Report: Rockets trade James Harden to Nets

James Harden's near-decade-long run with the Houston Rockets reportedly has come to an end.

The superstar guard was traded to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday for Caris LeVert, Dante Exum, Rodions Kurucs, four first-round picks and four draft swaps, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal also involved the Cleveland Cavaliers, who acquired Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince. Shams Charania of The Athletic adds the Indiana Pacers are sending Victor Oladipo to Houston for a package around LeVert.

The Philadelphia 76ers also were in the mix to acquire the former NBA MVP, but the Rockets ultimately chose Brooklyn's package instead.

Harden had been a subject of trade rumors dating back to the offseason, but his comments to reporters Tuesday night seemingly were the final straw. The 31-year-old said his situation in Houston was a "crazy" one that "could not be fixed," and that the team is "just not good enough." His ex-Rockets teammate John Wall, who was acquired in the deal that sent Russell Westbrook to the Washington Wizards, ripped him for his remarks shortly afterward.

The Boston Celtics reportedly had inquired about Harden after being included on his list of "preferred destinations." Instead, Harden will join one of Boston's biggest competitors in the Eastern Conference.

Harden is averaging 24.8 points, 10.4 assists, and 5.1 rebounds through eight games this season.
