NBA trade rumors: Should Celtics pay this asking price for Davis Bertans?

One of the most popular names rumored to be available ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline is Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertans, but the price to acquire him is pretty high.

The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor reported Thursday afternoon that Washington is seeking multiple first-round draft picks for Bertans.

The Celtics have been linked to Bertans in trade rumors for weeks, and his quality outside shooting would address a need for Boston's roster entering the Eastern Conference playoffs. Bertans is averaging 15 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while shooting a very impressive 42.9 percent from 3-point range.

The asking price is a lot, but the Celtics could make it work. Boston could have three first-round picks in the 2020 NBA Draft -- their own, the Memphis Grizzlies' (if it's outside the top six) and the Milwaukee Bucks'.

The Philadelphia 76ers bolstered their bench with the reported additions of Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III in a trade with the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. The Miami Heat reportedly acquired Jae Crowder and Andre Iguodala from the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday. So some of the Celtics' top rivals in the East are loading up, and it will be interesting to see if Boston does the same.

Bertans would be a stellar acquisition for the Celtics and improve their chances of winning a wide open Eastern Conference.
