NBA trade rumors: Wizards star Bradley Beal wants out of Washington

The Washington Wizards have been a huge disappointment this season, to say the least, and the drama isn't over yet.

Chris Sheridan, a longtime NBA writer who used to work for ESPN, reported Monday that Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal wants to be traded.

Beal's agent, per the Washington Post's Candace Buckner, denied his client wants out of Washington.

Sheridan's report comes after Wizards point guard John Wall was fined for yelling profanity at head coach Scott Brooks earlier this month. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski also recently reported the Wizards were willing to consider a trade involving anyone on their roster, including their two best players, Wall and Beal.

Beal is the best trade chip the Wizards have if they want to rebuild/re-tool after failing to reach the Eastern Conference finals with their current core.

Not only is he a super talented player who can score 20-plus points per game and shoot very well from 3-point range, he also has a team-friendly contract. His current deal has two more seasons remaining with an annual salary less than $30 million.

The remaining term on Beal's contract means the Wizards don't have to trade him right away. They can wait and field offers, perhaps creating a bidding war for his services before the trade deadline.

The Wizards are 7-12 entering Monday night's matchup with the Houston Rockets. Beal is averaging 21.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
