Nets fans chant ‘Kyrie's leaving' before Celtics make 14th pick

Nets fans took the chance to rub a little salt in the wound before the Celtics took Romeo Langford with the 14th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

With multiple rumors and reports swirling about Irving's eventual departure from the Celtics for the Nets, Brooklyn fans chanted "Kyrie's leaving" moments before Boston's selection.

This isn't a new practice for Nets fans. When the Celtics visited the Barclays Center during the regular season, Nets fans used the same chant while Irving sat out both games.

It's been a tough week for the Celtics. Not only is Irving likely gone, but Al Horford is also reportedly expected to leave in free agency in pursuit of a four-year, $100 million contract that the Celtics have not been willing to offer.

Of course, you can't blame Nets fans after watching the Celtics use all of their valuable first round picks on players like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum while using another to complete the Irving trade two years ago. If Irving ultimately chooses the Nets as his next destination, it would be a form of poetic justice for that franchise.

However, the Nets have had internal debate about whether to sign Irving if he is unable to recruit Kevin Durant to the Nets as well. So we'll see if these chants were premature when it's all said and done.
