The Boston Celtics made a splash on Friday night when it was announced that they would be signing veteran forward Jabari Parker to a two-year contract.
The move made sense. Parker, the former No. 2 overall pick out of Duke in the 2014 NBA Draft, has averaged 14.8 points per game during his career but barely saw the floor with the Sacramento Kings. Boston needed some bench scoring after the near-debacle on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Lakers, so Parker could provide that.
Now, Parker is set to join the Celtics, and he has a jersey number. According to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, Parker will wear the No. 20 for the C's.

Over the Celtics' history, 29 different players have worn the No. 20 jersey. Only the No. 12 jersey has seen more players wear it.
But 20 is obviously a familiar number for Boston. In the last decade, three different Celtics have worn that jersey. Most notably, Ray Allen wore that number during his time with the Celtics. The key figure in the Big 3 era averaged 16.7 points per game with the C's on 40.9 percent shooting from 3-point land before unceremoniously leaving to join the Miami Heat.
Since then, two other players have worn 20. Gordon Hayward donned the jersey for his three injury-marred campaigns with the C's that saw him play 125 total games and averaged 13.9 points per game.
Most recently, No. 20 belonged to Mortiz Wagner until Friday. The big man was acquired along with Luke Kornet as a part of the Daniel Theis trade. Wagner averaged 1.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game in just nine contests with the C's before being waived.

Ironically, Parker is taking Wagner's roster spot. Hopefully, he'll be able to do more than the reserve center was able to do in his limited run with the C's.
